Wellawatta Nithyakalyani Jewellery, a pioneer in the gem and jewellery trade in Sri Lanka, celebrated its 40th Anniversary through a series of social service events.
As part of those events they held a beach clean-up campaign along Marine Drive from Wellawatta to Dehiwala. The staff of Wellawatte Nithyakalyani Jewellery, Wellawatte Police, Wellawatte Coast Guard Unit and the general public participated in the event.
“Sri Lanka is a beautiful island surrounded by ocean, and for those of us who live in Sri Lanka, one of our greatest resources is our beach and sea. A large number of tourists come to our country to experience our wonderful coastline. Thus it is the responsibility and duty of us all to protect and keep our coastline clean”, said A P Jayarajah, Chief Executive Officer of Wellawatte Nithyakalyani Jewellery. Nithyakalyani has organized a series of social service events following this successful beach cleaning programme to celebrate its 40th Anniversary.
